ONE MI, Do the Work MI, and SJCC present a series of candidate forums centered around understanding how equity and inclusion play a role in our candidates’ vision for Mercer Island.

Tuesday, Oct. 19 – School Board Community Forum: Join us Oct. 19 at 7 pm for the School Board Forum. Live on Zoom. The School Board Forum will be moderated by Martha Brant and will feature Position 2 candidates Brian Giannini Upton and Daniel Glowitz, along with Position 4 candidates Lacey Aaker and Deborah Lurie.

Thursday, Oct. 21 – Join us Oct. 21 at 7 pm for the City Council Forum. Live on Zoom. The City Council Forum will be moderated by Bill Radke and will feature Position 2 candidates Daniel Becker and Salim Nice; Position 4 candidates Michael Curry and Ted Weinberg; and Position 6 candidates Kate Akyuz and Lisa Anderl.

Mitzvah Corps: Dinner at Our House
Weekends this #FallAtTheJ
Join our Mitzvah Corps volunteer group to prepare dinners for young people experiencing homelessness. We will provide all the groceries, supplies, and instructions to make a delicious meal in the SJCC kitchen – we just need you to help with the cooking! Afterward, SJCC staff will deliver the meals to the 25 young residents at a YouthCare home. Students – this is a perfect way to give back in a fun and social way while earning community service hours. Dinner at Our House is open to ages 5+; children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
