SJCC’s fall programs for kids, including Kidstown, After School Classes and swim lessons, begin following Labor Day.
MERCER ISLAND, Wash. (Aug. 1, 2019)— With the new school year approaching, the Stroum Jewish Community Center announced today (Thursday, August 1) the fall 2019 schedule for our J Kids’ programming, including the after school care program Kidstown (K to 2nd grade) and Kids City (3rd to 5th grade), After School Classes (K-5th grade), swim lessons (6 months to 12 years), and Enrichment Classes (pre-k).
J KIDS’ PROGRAM LINKS:
The 2019 fall schedule begins following Labor Day with Kidstown and Kids City beginning Sept. 4. Swim lessons for the fall session begin Sept. 7, while the After School Classes and Enrichment Classes begin Sept. 9.
The biggest change to the J Kids’ programming heading into 2019 is simplicity. All programs offered are more integrated with one another, making choices for the entire season simpler. In addition, we have added a new area to Kidstown called Kids City. This is an area just for 3rd-5th graders.
Our After School Classes for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade once again include fun and engaging options for kids to learn and explore after their school day.
Classes this year include Hip Hop Dance, STEAM Maker: Space Travel Puppet Show (new), Watts Basketball Academy, Cooking Up Knowledge, Trendy Crafts, STEM Sports: Multi-Sport, Karate-X, Little Coders: Coding Class, and Creative Art Network: Comic Books (new).
Our Enrichment Classes are designed in conjunction with our Early Childhood School and include classes designed specifically for preschoolers (ages 3-4) and pre-k students. Classes include Mindful Monkeys, Gymnastics, Cooking Up Knowledge, Itty Bitty Athletes, Creative Movement, Discovering Science, Trendy Crafts, Supreme Sports, and Karate X.
Once again, transportation will be offered from all four Mercer Island Elementary Schools. Buses pick kids up in the morning at the J and drop them off in the afternoon.
Registration opens on August 5. The J Kids’ Fall Programming runs through Thanksgiving break. The J Kids’ Winter Programs begin Jan. 6 with Spring Programs beginning March 30. For more information, visit SJCC.org.
