Propelling the Local Economy
Frank Martin, Early Childhood School parent and small business owner, confronted a daunting challenge last March. With schools closed due to COVID-19, Frank faced three bored kids at home needing attention, and a team of employees depending on his business for their livelihoods. When ECS reopened last July it provided much-needed stress relief—and a path forward.
ECS took this opportunity to innovate and launched an outdoor preschool program for three- and four-year-olds. Frank saw this as a perfect way to help his family and his business. “I am forever grateful to ECS for opening the outdoor preschool and for not allowing the pandemic to shut them down,” Frank said.
“I am so happy my son is running outside, getting dirty, and playing with bugs, in addition to the classroom work. He is thriving thanks to the teachers.”
And, Frank notes, the impact stretches beyond his son’s schooling. “The J is fostering community,” he said. “They have allowed a small business to continue to operate and employ a team of staff. It is more than just a great education for the kids, it is propelling our economy.”
