Yemen Blues Concert with Ravid Kahalani

$35 | $30
VIP $55 | $50*
“Ravid Kahalani’s Yemen Blues is a bridge between the ‘soulful points’ of different cultures.” – Music.com
“Every show is a world tour.” – The Washington Post
“Both preserving and invigorating Jewish music in contemporary culture…in a spectacular way.” – Washington Jewish Music Festival

Conceived from rising Israeli star Ravid Kahalani’s vision, Yemen Blues’ original music mixes Yemeni and West African influences with contemporary grooves, from funk to mambo, and the deep soul of old Mizrachi chants. Kahalani grew up in a traditional Jewish Yemenite family, and brings the language and rhythm of his origins together with blues, funk, classic operatic singing, North African soul, and Middle Eastern textures.  Previously the lead singer of Idan Raichel’s World Music Project, Kahalani’s balladry is both boisterous and romantic, joyous and anguished.

Conjuring up a rich and diverse aural palette, Yemen Blues coexists in both the past and the present, at once timeless and modern. The collective is a true collaboration of top master musicians. Their powerful, electric sound features tight horns, layered instrumentation, and the charismatic vocals and electric raw energy of lead singer Kahalani.

Club show with seated section. CDs and merchandise for sale.
