Why Summer J Camp

Why choose Summer J Camp? Because it’s nine weeks of fun!

Summer J Camp has received ACA-Accredited® Camp status for 2023-24 season. The ACA is the only independent accrediting organization reviewing camp operations in the country and their nationally recognized standards program focuses primarily on the program quality, health and safety aspects of a camp’s operation. J Camp’s recent accolades also include being named one of “America’s Best Summer Camps 2023” by Newsweek.

Summer at J Camp includes:

  • Caring + dedicated counselors + staff
  • All-camp fun: spirit days, morning circle + weekly Shabbat
  • Water activities in our indoor pool + on Lake Washington
  • Something new to try every week
  • Jewish—and universal—values infused into activities + culture
  • A summer of smiles, new friends + great memories
  • A focus on mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health. Read more about this new emphasis here >>

Activities vary based on camp

Core Camps are filled with games, art, science, music, sports, and tons of friends.

  • Camp Katan: younger kids get all the fun, plus low camper-to-counselor ratios
  • Camp Kef: kef means fun in Hebrew—and this camp brings it all day long!
  • Sports Camp: athletes of all skill levels practice favorite sports and learn new games at Luther Burbank Park
  • X Camp: older campers get out to explore beaches, mountains, museums, and more
  • J Camp + J Camp Minis: campers have classic J Camp fun at the gorgeous Luther Burbank Park, including beach and playground, and NEW at Seattle Jewish Community School, on the shores of Green Lake
  • Counselors in Training: with organized training and hands-on experience, CITs learn to be great future counselors

Specialty Camps give kids the chance to focus on their favorite activities or explore something new.

With dozens of camps to choose from, kids can learn about robots and animation, spend the week on the waterfront, take the stage in theater camp, release their inner chef, and so much more.

Your Child’s Health + Safety is Our Priority

Our Summer J Camp staff is focused on making sure your child’s summer is great – and that includes looking out for their safety and well-being. Our staff is first aid-certified, receives comprehensive pre-camp training, and must pass a background check. Lifeguards are certified through the American Red Cross. We also have a trained mental health specialist on staff to support the mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health of our camp community.
