SJCC Book Club

Join us for the SJCC Book Club, a space for thoughtful reading, meaningful discussion, and connections across our SJCC community.
Our August Book Club pick is A Tale of Love and Darkness by Amos Oz. Oz’s acclaimed memoir recounts his childhood in Jerusalem before and after the creation of the State of Israel, weaving together family history, personal tragedy, and the story of modern Israel. It explores Zionism, Israeli history, Jewish intellectual culture, immigration, identity, memory, and family. The book offers rich historical and philosophical discussions, though it is significantly longer and denser than the others.
Please note: Participants will need to purchase their own copy of the book. We recommend finishing the book before our meeting so you can fully join the discussion!
