Lifeguard Certification Class
Becoming a lifeguard is both a challenging and rewarding experience. This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies. Upon successful completion, participants will be certified in lifeguarding, CPR for the professional rescuer, first aid, and AED.
Participants must attend all class sessions and successfully pass both a written exam and in-water skills evaluation.

Participants must:
Be at least 15 years old by the final exam
Swim 250 yards continuously (freestyle and breaststroke)
Retrieve a 10-pound brick from the bottom of the pool
Tread water for 2 minutes without using hands

A minimum of 3 participants is required to hold the class.
If minimum enrollment is not met, participants will be notified the Monday prior and may choose a full refund or transfer
To receive a refund, cancellations must be submitted via email to Aquatics@sjcc.org at least 7 days before the class start date.
No make-up sessions will be offered for missed classes.
Online coursework must be completed prior to the first class.
Participants must attend all in-person sessions.
The final day may be used if additional time is needed for skill completion.
