“The Jโs annual Purim Carnival is a large community event that annually welcomes nearly 1,000 people into our building,” says SJCC Chief Executive Officer Amy Lavin. “The health and wellness of our entire community is our top priority, so we believe moving this event to a later date is the best choice for our community.โ

A “Second Purim” Celebration
Celebrating Purim later in the calendar actually has roots in Jewish tradition. “These celebrations, called ‘Second Purim,’ or Purim Katan, have historically been celebrated throughout the Jewish diaspora. You can read more about this tradition here. This year, we’re celebrating our own Purim Katan at the J! It will have many familiar attractions with a few twists and more connection to other family activities at the J,” Lavin says.
The Purim Katan Carnival will be part of a full day of family fun at the J on Sunday, April 26. The dayโs events include the Early Childhood Schoolโs annual Gardening Day and Mark Nizer 4D, an all-ages family variety show featuring outrageous comedy antics and expertly crafted juggling feats.
More details about Purim Katan coming soon.
