Many Voices, One Heart: October 7 Commemorative Programs

Join us for community gatherings to honor those whose lives were lost in the tragic Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, and to celebrate stories of courage and resilience.

Copresented byย AJC Seattle, Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle, Shevet Matar/Tzofimย Seattle, StandWithUs Northwest,ย Stroumย Jewish Community Center and Temple De Hirsch Sinai.

Memorial Service
Wednesday, October 7 | 7 pm | Seattle*

Join together with the Seattle Jewish community to remember and mourn the tragic terror attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. We will honor the memories of those lost through song and prayer and hear inspiring words from young Israelis in our own community who are a part of Tzofim Shevet Matar. The memorial service will be conducted in both English and Hebrew with projected translations for eachโ€ฏ.

Humans of October 7th: Israeli Photojournalist Exhibit + Speaker Presentation

SJCC will exhibit select photos in the J Cafรฉ before the event: on display Sept 1- Oct 11.

Israeli artist and photojournalist Erez Kaganovitz felt it was imperative to counter misconceptions, rising antisemitism and show the human side of Israel. The result: Humans of October 7th, a powerful photography project that brings to light the personal bravery and human stories of Israelis who stood up against terrorism. His work and presentation reveal what Kaganovitz calls โ€œIsraeli D.N.A. at its bestโ€โ€”the incredible spirit and resilience of the Israeli peopleโ€”and remind us what we are working to protect. Featuring stories and photos from the project,Humans of October 7th invites attendees to an interactive, frank conversation on hope, resilience and the future ofโ€ฏIsraeliโ€ฏsociety. More info >>


Tzofim Service (in Hebrew)

This annual service, led by the teens of Tzofim Shevet Matar (Israeli Scouts), brings Hebrew-speaking members of our community together to commemorate, mourn and rise as one. Registration link available in early October. Location will be emailed upon registration.
