Vaccinate and continue to protect our most vulnerable

A message from SJCC CEO Amy Lavin:

Here at the SJCC, we work every day to build an inclusive, caring, compassionate community. Underlying all of that is a fierce commitment to safety and wellbeing, and in the past year, that has focused largely on mitigating the spread of COVID-19 at the J and in our extended community.

With vaccines widely available today, we implore everyone to take advantage of this health breakthrough, the most vital tool in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 and helping all of us restore normalcy in our lives. I know many of us have run to the nearest vaccine clinic to receive that shot in the arm as quickly as possible. To all of you, THANK YOU!

For others, namely those most vulnerable, this isn’t possible. Children, a vibrant focus of the SJCC are one of those populations along with anyone with a medical condition limiting their eligibility for vaccination. It’s critical that those of us who can get a vaccine do. Here at the J, it’s our expectation that every one of us does our part to protect these groups and keep them as healthy as possible. Protecting the most vulnerable is a core Jewish value and we seek to do so when and wherever we can.

In that spirit, we will also continue to adapt and enforce our mask-wearing policies around the property in consideration of those—namely children—who are unable to get vaccinated. Vaccination, masking, and physical distancing work together to stamp out COVID-19 and limit the potential for spreading and propagation of variant streams.

Over the past 15 months, COVID-19 has taken the lives of nearly 600,000 Americans and rattled the lives of literally everyone on earth. Please get vaccinated immediately, if you haven’t already done so, and if you have any questions about the vaccine or COVID-19, please go to www.getvaccineanswers.org or ask your family doctor.

Thank you for answering the global call to limit the spread of COVID-19 by getting a vaccine and doing everything you can to protect our most vulnerable. We’ve all been in this together and we need us all to get out together, too.
