Membership Agreement

By purchasing a membership, you acknowledge you have read and agree to the policies, terms and conditions outlined below.

Thank you for becoming a member of the Stroum Jewish Community Center – weโ€™re happy youโ€™re joining our community. The SJCCโ€™s mission is to create outstanding programs, partnerships, and spaces that welcome everyone to learn, grow, and celebrate Jewish life and culture. We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all members, guests, and staff. As a member, you play an important role in helping us create this environment by acting appropriately, following the values of our community, and abiding by the following policies:

Facility Use Policy

  1. All members are required to use their assigned SJCC access card to enter the building, Early Childhood School, Fitness Center, upgraded locker rooms, and other access-controlled areas. Do not aid or abet the unauthorized entrance of anyone without an access card.
  2. Children 10 years of age and younger must be attended while in the facility. Parents and guardians must follow SJCC age guidelines and protocols for signing children in and out.
  3. All members ages 16+; Members ages 13-15 with a youth certification and/or who are working out with one of our SJCC instructors; Members ages 11-12 only when accompanied by a SJCC instructor. For everyoneโ€™s safety, children ages 10 and under are not permitted in any fitness areas at any time.
  4. Appropriate attire must be worn at all times. With the exception of the pool and locker rooms where swimsuits are   permitted, shirts and shoes are required when inside the SJCC.
  5. Members are required to adhere to the posted schedules for usage of all our facilities including the gym, cafรฉ, public areas, pool, Fitness Center, etc.
  6. Members shall report any suspicious or inappropriate behaviors to the SJCC staff. Members are responsible for cleaning up after themselves and helping keep the facility attractive. Members are encouraged to let the staff know if an area of the facility or a piece of equipment needs cleaning, maintenance, or repair.
  7. All equipment and supplies provided for use must remain within the facility and be returned in good condition to their original location.
  8. With the exception of service animals, pets are not permitted indoors unless it is for an authorized event.
  9. Mobile phone use is prohibited at all times in the locker rooms; Talking on cell phones, taking video calls, taking pictures or videos in any of the Fitness Areas is not permitted. Please be considerate of other members and guests when using your mobile phone in permitted areas.
  10. Community members may submit flyers, posters, and/or announcements to our Welcome Desk for SJCC Management approval to be posted on the SJCC community bulletin board only. Do not post anything on other walls/bulletin boards or leave promotional materials in common areas. All postings are at the discretion of SJCC management.
  11. SJCC and its employees are not responsible for the loss or damage of valuables or property belonging to members, guests, or visitors while they are on the SJCC campus or attending any SJCC-sponsored event or program. Members and guests are encouraged to store and lock all personal belongings in lockers. Day-use lockers are available; members/guests must provide their own locks. Staff members are not permitted to hold valuables or bags for anyone.
  12. All members are expected to follow SJCCโ€™s policies and procedures, which are subject to change without notice at any time.
  13. We expect everyone using the SJCC to behave in a mature and responsible way, and to respect the rights and dignity of other members, guests, and staff. The following behaviors are prohibited and may result in termination of membership without a refund; they include, but are not limited to:
    • ย Angry, vulgar, or threatening language or actions (including swearing, name-calling, shouting, physical contact, etc.); any demonstration of sexual activity or sexual contact with another person; harassment or intimidation by words, gestures, body language, or menacing behavior.
    • Theft, loitering, or behavior that results in destruction of property.
    • Carrying or concealing any weapons or devices/objects that may be perceived as weapons.
    • Consuming illegal or controlled substances on SJCC property, in SJCC vehicles, or at SJCC-sponsored events. Alcohol consumption is prohibited unless it is during an authorized event. Persons under age 21 may not consume alcohol on the property at any time.
    • Smoking โ€“ including e-cigarettes โ€“ is not permitted anywhere on SJCC property or at SJCC-sponsored events or programs.
    • Any activity that is a conflict of interest with services the SJCC provides, such as personal training or swim lessons
    • Any other conduct of an inappropriate, threatening, or offensive nature as determined by SJCC staff

Auto-Pay Agreement Membership Agreement

  • I/we hereby authorize and request the SJCC to initiate debit entries to my/our checking or savings account and/or to charge my credit card on file, consistent with the terms of my membership agreement. I understand that funds will be authorized one day prior to my contract renewal date, and that funds will be withdrawn or charged on my contract renewal date each month, and will appear as โ€œSamuel and Althea Stroumโ€ on my bank statement. I/we authorize and request my/ our bank to accept any debit entries or credit card charges initiated by the SJCC and to debit or charge the same to my/ our account or credit card without liability for the correctness of the entries. All changes in my/our automatic withdrawals or charges must be submitted to the SJCC in writing at least 30 days in advance of the next scheduled payment date. Notification to the SJCC shall be effective upon receipt.
  • All checks, bankcards/debits, and EFTs returned for insufficient funds will be subject to an automatic $25 fee.

Membership Terms & Conditions

  • Membership Commitment + Refunds
    Stroum Jewish Community Center membership may be paid annually or monthly. If you pay for the entire year in one payment, there will be no refunds. If you pay monthly, your contract will auto-renew each month. For those joining via a promotion, membership is a 12-month commitment and is non-refundable. If you pay for the entire promotion year in one payment, there will be no refunds. If you pay monthly, the monthly obligation continues through the end of your initial contract. Following the initial 12 months, membership will be automatically renewed on a month-to-month contract.
  • Cancellation Policy
    Cancellation requires 30 daysโ€™ written notice. All membership changes must be made in writing by the Primary Account Holder. If you join via a promotion and cancel within the first 12 months of your contract, your financial obligation continues.
  • Membership Holds
    Membership can be put on hold for a minimum of one (1) month and a maximum of three (3) months with payment of a one-time $35 hold fee. Hold requests require a valid start date and end date. Automatic charges will commence from end date. Membership may not be put on hold during the first 12 months of your membership. Hold Requests must be submitted via the SJCC Membership Change Form.
  • Membership Categories & Fees
    You must apply for the membership category that is appropriate for your age and household configuration. Membership is subject to revocation without refund if you do not qualify for the membership category for which you have applied. A Family membership includes children up to age 26 living at home and two adults only. If an additional adult aged 26 or above, living in the same household, wishes to be included on the family membership, then you may request to add an Additional Adult at the rate of $24 per month for each Additional Adult member. A one-time joining fee is required at joining. Members who cancel and subsequently rejoin may be subject to an additional joining fee. Discounts are applied to base memberships only and cannot be combined with any promotions.
  • Access Cards
    Membership access cards must be used to access the facility and are non-transferable. Your photo will be taken and kept on file and is tied to your access card. In the event you lose your access card, you must immediately notify SJCC so that it can be deactivated. A replacement card is available for $10. On cancellation of membership, member access cards must be returned and will be deactivated. Failure to return access card upon termination of membership will result in an automatic $10 fee per card. Assumption of Risk & Liability Waiver must be signed and on-file before utilizing the facility or participating in a program.
  • Photography/Videography
    Your purchase gives the SJCC permission to use photographs and/or videos taken of you and those on your membership at the facility or engaged in any SJCC program.
  • Involuntary Suspension or Termination
    The SJCC, in its sole discretion, has the right to suspend or terminate membership privileges at any time for any reason, whether you violate the membership agreement or not. A suspended or terminated member remains liable for all dues and other indebtedness incurred prior to suspension or termination of the membership. Refunds will not be issued for suspended or terminated memberships. The membership of any member whose account is 60 days or more in arrears may, at the option of the SJCC, be terminated.
  • Rules Not All Inclusive
    The rules contained within this membership agreement are not inclusive. Additions and amendments may be made from time to time by the Stroum JCC. For all questions regarding facility rules and guidelines, the Stroum JCC makes the final decision.
