Dreaming Big for the J’s Next 75 Years

The last time our community gathered together for a Circle of Friends Luncheon was in 2018. This week, the luncheon returns as we celebrate the J’s 75th anniversary, the leaders who have guided us to this milestone, and our collective commitment to the J’s future.

This year’s luncheon honors our 41 past presidents, many of whom will join us at the event on April 18. Mindy Geisser, the J’s current board president, said honoring these past leaders—and the vision, guidance, and tireless support that helped us get to the place we are today—is a perfect way to celebrate the J’s 75th anniversary.

“Every past leader I have encountered has had an unending drive, commitment, and passion for the J and its impact on the community, as well as a true belief in the importance of investing in its future,” Geisser said. “They are all heartfelt in their interest in ensuring we continue to be the Puget Sound’s most open and welcoming community-centered Jewish organization and to continue to offer experiences that amplify profound Jewish connections for every generation.”

The Circle of Friends Luncheon is also a chance to celebrate the J’s impactful role in our community in 2024. “At the J, multiple generations can come together and find something that inspires them,” Geisser said. “We invite more Jews through our front door than any other Jewish organization in Washington. We connect people. We are so diverse in the programs and activities that we offer. There is something for everyone here.”

To continue to invest in and expand these amazing programs and create even more opportunities for profound connections, we have big dreams for the J’s next 75 years. And we depend on the support of our community to reach them.

“Someone once told me that the next 12 months should always be the best year of your life, so I hope that the next 75 years will be the best years ever for the J,” Geisser said. “I hope we see more members, families, children, parents, grandparents, friends, and neighbors coming together to connect and enjoy one another and the community while laughing, eating, playing, learning, growing, supporting, and bringing value and profound Jewish connections.”
