How to Be an Ally

The Jโ€™s vision to be the regionโ€™s most open and welcoming community-centered Jewish organization leaves no room for antisemitism, hate, or discrimination of any kind.

Here are some resources for our community and to share with friends and neighbors.

Educate yourself and others

Speak Out Against Antisemitism

  • Call out antisemitism when you when you see or hear it, whether online or in person. This includes challenging stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination against Jews.
  • Educate others about the harmful impact of antisemitic rhetoric and actions.
  • Be vigilant against articles/posts that perpetuate antisemitic stereotypes or tropes, even if they’re disguised as criticism of Israeli government policies. (For more about engaging in dialogue about the Israel-Hamas war, click here)
  • Report antisemitic incidents to authorities (organizational leaders, ADL, law enforcement if needed)
  • Support those who experience/are targeted by antisemitism. Listen to their experiences, validate their feelings, and offer assistance when needed.

Promote Inclusivity and Diversity

  • Foster environments that embrace diversity and reject discrimination in all its forms.
  • Advocate for policies and practices that promote inclusion and equality for Jewish people and other marginalized communities.
  • Stand up against all forms of bigotry and hate speech.

Advocate for Legislation

Promote and Engage in Dialogue and Cooperation

  • Foster positive relationships and dialogue between Jewish communities and other groups.
  • Recognize the intersections between different forms of identity and work towards solidarity, mutual support, and collective strength.
