SJCC community,
As we continue to watch and learn more about the global threat of COVID-19, we have decided to completely close the Stroum Jewish Community Center as of 7:00 pm today, Sunday, March 15, 2020. It’s been an agonizing decision, yet as the situation evolves, it’s increasingly important that we do everything we can to ‘flatten the curve’; which means closing our facility to public use.
At this point, we anticipate this closure to last until April 24, 2020, though we will do our best to open as soon as it’s safe and possible to do so.
We will be open tomorrow, Monday, March 16, 2020, from 7:30 am – 10:00 am and again from 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm for members to come in to collect any personal belongings you may have in our locker rooms that you will need during this time.
We love seeing your faces at the SJCC regularly, and we also know the relationships that connect and fortify the SJCC community transcend the walls of this building. Our committed team is already working to create programs that will continue to connect us during these unusual times. We will send emails with updates on program and content availability and also invite you to follow us on social media and at sjcc.org for the latest information.
Starting next week, we will be in touch weekly to share any available updates and a preview of the coming week.
Knowing that the next steps are critical to our members, staff, broad community, and our mission, we are unable to refund March fees and dues. We are working with our Board of Directors to actively evaluate how the closure of our building affects membership dues and program and ticketing fees over a longer period of time. We promise to share an update on those topics as soon as a responsible and clear decision has been made. We thank the community for your continued support and patience as we assess a strong path forward. Our goal is to reopen as soon as possible with personal, communal, and agency health and strength.
