The Stroum Jewish Community Center core values of welcoming everyone, joy, learning, and celebrating together form the fabric of our early learning programs for children three months to six years old. Our Jewish values combine with leading early childhood development theories to create a warm and inspiring environment where children grow into compassionate, curious, and confident learners.
Age-Based Classrooms
As children grow, we foster innovative hands-on learning experiences that encourage and celebrate each developmental milestone. See examples of what this looks like for each age group below.
Infants

Infants are nurtured in an atmosphere of trust and respect, encouraging them to explore their environment with confidence and develop at their own pace.
Ones

Our Ones program nurtures independence by fostering communication and self-help skills. Children learn to express their needs clearly and confidently while engaging in tasks like cleaning up after snacks or managing their clothing. These experiences build confidence and encourage independence in daily routines.
Twos

Our Twos-Threes program fosters critical thinking and self-help skills through activities like putting on shoes, managing jackets, and opening lids at mealtime. Children develop focus, self-control, and the ability to follow two-step directions through engaging, developmentally appropriate experiences that promote problem-solving and independence.
Threes

Our Threes-Fours program emphasizes communication development through engaging activities like morning sign-in. These thoughtfully designed provocations help children understand that marks convey meaning, fostering connections between written expression and communication while encouraging active participation.
Fours

Our Pre-K program nurtures communication skills through a focus on writing and self-expression. Each classroom features a dedicated message center where children can write, draw, or create marks, helping them understand that these symbols convey meaning. Emphasis is also placed on developing focus and self-control. Through group discussions, children practice attentive listening, thoughtful responses, and information retention, fostering meaningful engagement and collaborative learning while respecting diverse perspectives.
Kindergarten (5โ6 years)

Our kindergarten curriculum focuses on developing academic and social-emotional skills, using experience-based learning to grow critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical abilities. Through innovative learning experiences, children continue to develop early literacy, math, cognitive, and physical skills in an integrated context, instilling them with the skills and confidence to thrive beyond kindergarten.
Creative Beginnings (0โ24 months)

For one hour each week, enjoy socializing with other parents and caregivers as your child develops their social, emotional, and cognitive skills with other children their age. Together with a seasoned instructor, youโll explore your childโs curiosities through art, music, storytelling, and creative play.
Bilingual English + Hebrew Option (2โ5 years)

Our bilingual program in Hebrew and English engages the openness of the developing mind to enhance learning and seed intercultural understanding.
Bilingual classrooms have both English- and Hebrew-speaking teachers but are not language-instruction classes. Children continue to explore provocations and learn about the world around them with the same Reggio Emilia-inspired practicesโthey just experience everything in both Hebrew and English.
Available in our twos, threes, and fours programs.
