There are so many ways to give!
You can help forge friendships, foster healthy lifestyles and habits, build community and connection to Judaism, and nurture an overall sense of belonging for everyone by investing in the J. Just decide which way you’d like to support our work.

New for 2020 – CARES Act Tax Benefits
It’s no secret, the past eight months have been tough for the J and our community. At this time, your support is more important than ever. Take advantage of special tax benefits for 2020 by making a donation to the J by December 31. This is the year to give, and to give generously!
- Make a cash donation up to $300 today and take an additional above the line deduction for those who take the standard deduction, thanks to the CARES Act. Donate online, or have your check postmarked by 12/31/20 to take advantage of this deduction.
- Make a stock transfer before the end of the year and not only are you able to deduct the full amount of the donation, you’re also able to avoid paying capital gains taxes. See below for gift of stock information.
- A qualified charitable distribution from your IRA directly to the SJCC can help you meet your required minimum distribution for the year. Contact your IRA Financial Institution to make this type of gift. See below for more IRA gift information.
- Finally, for 2020 only, taxpayers who itemize can deduct up to 100% of their adjusted gross income for cash donations to the J, again thanks to the CARES Act.
Always consult with a qualified tax advisor for any questions about eligibility and benefits. For assistance making your year-end gift, please contact Jenna Sytman at (206) 683-0109. Please do your part to ensure that the SJCC endures this perilous crisis by making a contribution to the J today.
Make an Outright Gift
Cash donations provide the quickest and most significant opportunity to provide immediate program and scholarship support. Make your gift online today or mail it to SJCC at the address above.
The SJCC gratefully accepts donations from Donor Advised Funds. Use the information above to help your financial institution find the SJCC and make a distribution from your fund.
Gifts of Stock/Appreciated Assets
Consider donating an appreciated asset as your annual gift. Stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and life insurance can all fuel the important work we do while providing you a significant tax benefit. To make an appreciated asset gift, please refer to our Stock Transfer Instructions.
Qualified IRA Charitable Distribution
If you are over 70 ½ and do not need your annual IRA distribution, you can skip the penalty and save income taxes by making a qualified charitable distribution to the SJCC. Provide the contact information above to the financial institution that holds your IRA and they will send your donation directly to the SJCC. Always consult with a qualified tax advisor for any questions about eligibility and benefits.
Workplace Giving/Matching Gifts
Most all donations to the SJCC are eligible for corporate matching gifts. When you give through your workplace giving your investment in the J grows. If you need a receipt or confirmation of a recent gift, please contact Jenna Sytman.
Designate the SJCC in your will, life insurance policy, or retirement account, to ensure we’ll always be in a place to support forging friendships, linking generations and strengthening community. Your legacy commitment ensures the continuation of our efforts for generations to come.
