SUMMARY:SJCC Book Club: “Heaven and Earth Grocery Store”
DESCRIPTION:Multicultural Book Discussion: The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store \nJoin the SJCC Book Club and King County Library System (KCLS) for a special multicultural discussion of James McBride’s acclaimed novel\, “The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.” \nSet in a diverse Pennsylvania neighborhood in the 1930s\, the novel brings together Jewish immigrants and African American residents in a powerful story of community\, identity\, belonging\, prejudice\, and the courage to care for one another across cultural differences. \nShare your thoughts and perspectives as we explore the book’s themes and consider what this story can teach us about building community across differences\, both then and today.
