X Camp

June 18 – August 24, weekly
5th-8th grade

Xploration + Xtreme sports=Xcitement! Get ready to skydive indoors and take a shot at paintball. Head out on adventures like paddle
boarding, hiking, Ultimate Frisbee, trips to the beach, parkour, sports, climbing, and so much more. Make new friends in an active
outdoor setting, all while building self-confidence and social skills.

WARNING: Once you’ve experienced X Camp, regular life may seem unfulfilling and boring. Leave your fears and inhibitions at home and join us for the first summer of the rest of your life.

Performing Arts Camp

1st-8th grade
June 25-August 24, three-week sessions
Member $780, guest $880
Love to dance, sing, and act? Then this is the camp for you! Express yourself, hone theater skills, and problem solve as you create a show for friends, families, and campers. Play imaginative theater games, explore new dance styles, sing showtunes, and get more com-fortable performing on stage.

Offstage, you’ll swim, enjoy boating and archery, take weekly field trips, and more. Make this summer your moment to shine!

Photography - FULL

Member $380, guest $420 
Do you have a curious and artistic eye? Join us for this introduction to photography. We’ll take field trips to visually stunning locations around Mercer Island, focusing on framing, lighting, and composition. Bring your own digital camera or ready-to-load film camera and film to camp each day.

Minecraft Mania

June 25 – June 29
Member $380, guest $420
Control your world with command blocks and redstone as you create, explore, and put your problem-solving skills to the test by building an adventure map and resource packs at this tech-focused camp. Many schools—even universities—use the Minecraft platform to help with reading, writing, math, and science. You’ll learn critical skills while having a blast.

Oodles of Noodles - FULL

July 2 – July 6

Ravioli, gnocchi, pappardelle— oh my! Take a delicious journey through Italy, making pastas from scratch, and creating and plating signature dishes in restaurant style.

Let Them Eat Cake - FULL

July 9 – July 13
Member $380, guest $420
Chefs, open your secret envelopes; inside you’ll find today’s cake challenge. You’ll work in teams to bake and  decorate the most amazing cakes. Guest judges will determine winners and the cakes will be on display for parents to see. Learn piping techniques, fondant creations, and how to make buttercream frosting from scratch. Yum!

Around the World - FULL

July 16 – July 20

Travel the world without leaving the J! Explore all corners of world cuisine, cooking up great dishes along the way. Middle Eastern delicacies, African spices, pan-Asian treats, and good ol’ American eats. Bring  your appetite!

Cooking Challenge - FULL

July 23 – July 27
Member $380, guest $420
Get ready to show off your culinary skills and become a master chef! Learn kitchen basics and tricks of the trade as you compete in a variety of cooking challenges to find out which chef will reign supreme. If you can stand the heat, get in the J Camp kitchen!

Dissection Lab

July 30 – August 3
Member $380, guest $420
Wonder what something looks like on the inside? From cow’s eyes to brains, owl pellets to dogfish, learn professional dissection techniques to discover the ins and outs of an organism. We’ll cover the animal kingdom from simple to complex.

The Art of Giving: Microloans

August 6 – August 17
Member $780, guest $840
Combine being an artist, a global citizen, and an entrepreneur. We’ll visit the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and then create our own company—complete with a logo and marketing strategy—that makes and sells original, handmade artwork. The money we make will be used to fund a microloan program, which gives small loans to people in developing countries.

Robot Workshop

August 20 – August 24
Member $430, guest $470*
From LEDs and light detection to servos and motors, work with your teammates to develop an autonomous robot at camp and then take it home to begin a new robotic adventure.Test your software engineering skills by constructing circuits, exploring basic mechanics, taking apart old electronics, and discovering breadboarding.
