Kef

1st-6th grade

“Kef” means fun in Hebrew and that’s exactly the kind of summer you’ll have! Active group games, energetic song sessions, messy science experiments and creative art projects with our specialists. Gear up for a weekly field trip and open choice Thursdays where only Kef gets to choose their entire afternoon! We group kids according to grade to activities are age-appropriate. We all come together for field trips and special only Kef activities!

Magniv

1st-5th grade

Experience camp through the lens of Israel and Israeli culture. Not only will you enjoy our traditional camp programs, your counselors — all native Hebrew speakers — lead you on explorations of the art, food and atmosphere of Israel, all in Hebrew! Camp Magniv also performs at our weekly all camp Shabbat!

The majority of this camp will be conducted in Hebrew, and almost all of the participants are native Hebrew speakers. This camp is best-suited to kids who already speak Hebrew fluently.

Sports

1st-5th grade

An action packed camp for athletes of all kinds. Through scrimmages and drills that emphasize sportsmanship and teamwork, you will learn new skills  and new sports! There is something for every sill level and sports vary by the week. We group kids according to grades, so all activities are age appropriate. We come together for field trips and special all-Sports Camp games!

Performing Arts Camp

1st-6th grade

Love to dance, sing and act? Then this is the camp for you! Express yourself, hone theater skills and problem solve as you create a show for friends, family and campers. Play imaginative theater games, explore new dance styles, sing showtunes, and get comfortable being on stage! Offstage you will swim, go on field trips and more!

Minecraft

Control your world with command blocks and redstone as you create, explore, and put your problem solving skills to the test by building an adventure map and resource packs at this tech-focused camp. Many schools – even universities- use the Minecraft platform to help with reading, writing, math and science. You’ll learn critical skills while having a blast!

NEW! Ceramics

Every culture around the world is different, yet we all have things in common. Join us as we take a look at several cultural icons, their art and meaning. We will look at the Hamsa, create a slab wall hanging with leather and beads while incorporating the evil eye. We will create a jade mask inspired by South American cultures incorporating both slab and coil clay techniques. We will discover the Chinese Terracotta Warriors and create a replica using a modeling compound and painting technique. We will also create a vessel inspired by the Polynesian culture, a tiki cup. We will incorporate the scratch and attach method for this project as we design faces on our cups.

Learning about new cultures and clay techniques one project at a time. Join as discover art from around the world, dress for mess!

Projects will be glazed and kiln-fired and available for pick up on site at the JCC two weeks after camp has concluded.

Baking Bootcamp - FULL

From unicorns to dinosaurs, it’s time to discover ANIMALS of all kinds. Discover mystical and realistic animals through painting and drawing as we design our own creatures. Work with pastels, sculpture and collage. Let your imagination soar as we get crafty and creative!

NEW! Star Wars Movie Making

From a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars comes to life! Work on a stop-motion animated LEGO Star Wars movie. Star Wars action figures, LEGOs, and backdrops will be available for filming in class. Handle all the technical details, including using a digital movie camera, filming scenes, doing stop-motion animation and digital editing, and adding finishing touches like special effects and transitions to the movie. In this exciting, hands-on class, our instructors will take your student through the entire digital filmmaking process from start to finish using the Frames Software. Student groups’ final projects will be emailed to parents, or students may bring a USB jump drive on the last day for instant access.

Extreme Battlebots - FULL

July 29- August 2

Super-Charged LEGO Robotics Projects! Get ready to take ultimate control! Using the Mindstorm Intelligent brick from LEGO®, servo motors, advanced ultrasonic, touch, and light sensors, and specialized LEGO Technic engineering components, students will build extreme robots and overcome challenges. Students working in small teams will control the robot with NXT programs and then experiment with and modify the programs. Students will then be challenged to morph their projects into better, stronger, or faster robots. Possible competitive robots built are the Tug-O-War Bot, Hammer-Bot, Claw-Striker, and Sumo-Bot.

Pokemon Art Camp

In this new twist on Pokemon Plus campers will go from Pokemon maker to stop motion movie guru! Campers will design their own characters and them to life. They will then create stop motion movies and Pokemon cards to trade with their friends.

Get a great head start in learning how to code using one of the key programming languages used by professional developers – Python. Its syntax allows programmers to express concepts in fewer lines of code than would be possible in languages such as C++ or Java, making it the perfect coding language for beginners. Python is a text-based language; students should have keyboarding and basic computer skills.

Candyology

This is a camp you can really sink your teeth into! From composition to chomping, discover what science goes into every single piece of candy. Work with teammates to deconstruct the sugar compounds of different candy polymers. Each day, you will learn a recipe for a new type of candy. This exploration of engineering and chemistry will convince you that candy is more than just a tasty treat.

Science Myths: BUSTED

This week is one giant science experiment! Can you really slip on a banana peel? Will eating pop rocks and drinking soda make your stomach explode? Can ninjas walk on water? Using physics and chemistry basics, design, test and conduct experimental trials to prove or disprove various urban legends and age-old misconceptions. Combine the scientific method with wild curiosity and plain old-fashioned ingenuity as you explode a week’s worth of myths.

Crazy Contraptions

Paper, marbles, sticks and tape. Wheels, screws and inclined planes. Put them together and what do you get? A CRAZY CONTRAPTION! If you can make something from nothing, and everything from anything, then come join us. Learn the engineering design process as you create a wacky machine with ramps, levers, pulleys and other simple machines to complete a task. Put your design to the test and see what it can do!

Watts Basketball Academy

Led by Husky alum, Donald Watts, this camp is for kids looking to improve their confidence, hone their basketball skills, and develop new friendships. Campers will learn to love hard work and embrace their unique selves and athleticism.
