Winter Beginners Bridge

This 5-lesson series for absolute beginners (or for those who have not played for many years) presents the mechanics of the game, introduces hand evaluation, and focuses on basic bidding and play principles — the “nuts and bolts” needed to play the game. The textbook, Bridge Basics 1, is available from a variety of sources, or from the instructor for $10. Supplementary materials will be provided after registration.

About the Instructor

Dianne is a Ruby Life Master with the American Contract Bridge League and has almost 2400 masterpoints. In 2008 she and her partner Dennis Duryea purchased Eastside Bridge Center in Redmond, Washington. In the five years they owned the club, Dianne was manager, director, and teacher. Under Dianne’s leadership, the club became the largest bridge club in Washington.

After the club was sold in 2012, Dianne continued teaching and directing in the Seattle area. She taught group lessons at several golf and country clubs, such as The Seattle Tennis Club, Overlake Golf and Country Club, and retirement centers such as Emerald Heights. In 2015 Dianne and Dennis decided to direct bridge on cruise ships. They have now successfully instructed on sixteen different bridge cruises. Bridge and teaching are both passions of Dianne.
