Tiffany Shlain is an Emmy-nominated filmmaker, founder of the Webby Awards, and author of a new, best-selling book about her family’s decade long practice of turning off screens one day a week for the past decade “24/6: The Power of Unplugging One Day A Week” (2019). The Museum of Modern Art in New York just premiered her new live Spoken Cinema performance “Dear Human,” based on the book. She lectures and performs worldwide on the relationship between technology and humanity. During COVID, Tiffany is has been doing special weekly newsletters and hosts a weekly #ZoomChallahBake on Fridays with special guests.
Shlain is also the recipient of the 2018 Seattle Jewish Film Festival REEL Difference Award for her groundbreaking films about Jewish identity, technology shabbats, and “cinemactivism.” We will discuss how her views on technology, human and global connections has been influenced by the pandemic and more.
