More on THE JEWISH JAIL LADY AND THE HOLY THIEF: A LOVE STORY OF RELIGIOUS PROPORTIONS

Barry Rosenthal, Victor Velle | Documentary | USA | 2022 | English | 60m | PG-13

Rabbi Mark Borovitz refers to his past self as a con man and a thief. His wife, Harriet Rossetto, simply calls her husband “a good guy who did bad things.” Who would ever believe a Jewish felon and a promiscuous divorcée could come together to save countless lives? Together, the eccentric couple run Beit T’Shuvah in Los Angeles, a one-of-a-kind recovery and treatment center that doubles as a synagogue. Their unexpected, brilliant love story fuels this fascinating, messy, sometimes downright dirty film about love and redemption. Winner of the Best Documentary award at the 2022 Santa Barbara Jewish Film Festival.
