Music of Remembrance: Between Worlds

Join J Culture Club at Music of Remembrance’s world premiere performance of “Raven in the Box of Daylight,” a multimedia experience of the raven legend that has been passed down for centuries among indigenous peoples in the Pacific Northwest. Starring Native American artists violinist Swil Kanim and storyteller Gene Tagaban, and highlighting the work of renowned Tlingit glass sculptor Preston Singletary. In addition, Whim W’Him Seattle Contemporary Dance returns with Olivier Wevers’ evocative choreography for Osvaldo Golijov’s “Lullaby and Doina,” depicting the doomed young love of a Jewish woman and a Roma man. Plus works by Gerard Schwarz, Jerod I. Tate, Paul Ben Haim, and Géza Frid. Featuring Music of Remembrance’s stellar instrumental ensemble drawn from the ranks of the Seattle Symphony.
