Join us for the SJCC Book Club, a space for thoughtful reading, meaningful discussion, and connections across our SJCC community.
Our June book club pick is “Hannah Arendt: A Life of the Mind” by Thomas Meyer. Meyer’s intellectual biography uses newly available archival material to trace Hannah Arendt from her German Jewish childhood through flight from Nazi Germany, refugee years in Paris, and intellectual life in New York. It connects her experiences to her thinking on totalitarianism, statelessness, freedom, responsibility, truth, and the ‘banality of evil.’
Please note: Participants will need to purchase their own copy of the book. We recommend finishing the book before our meeting so you can fully join the discussion!
Books are available at Island Books. Mention the SJCC when you purchase your copy to receive 10% off.
