Chef Talk + Tasting: Adeena Sussman, “Shabbat” Cookbook
November 5 • 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Join us for a conversation + tasting with chef Adeena Sussman, author of the new cookbook “Shabbat: Recipes and Rituals from My Table to Yours.” In Sussman’s home, the Shabbat table has always been a nourishing place where all are welcome, and a weekly opportunity to feed the soul. The tantalizing recipes in her book reflect this warmth. Now, more than ever, Shabbat cooking is what we need.
Sussman is author of New York Times bestselling cookbook “Sababa,” and co-author of 14 cookbooks, including three “Cravings” collaborations with Chrissy Tiegen. She’ll be joined in conversation by Rebekah Denn, The Seattle Times food writer and two-time James Beard Award winner.

About the Book
As a child, Adeena Sussman looked forward to the magic of Shabbat—the traditional Jewish day of rest—all week. A treasured time when family and friends come together to relax, unwind, and revel in one another’s company during open-ended, tantalizing meals, Shabbat has been practiced all over the world and throughout history. In her home, then and now, the Shabbat table is a centering force, a nourishing place where one and all are welcome. It’s an opportunity every week to feed the soul. Because Shabbat cooking requires smart cooking techniques and sound prep, the cookbook is filled with cozy mains and crowd-pleasers that require little hands-on attention, as well as sides and bright salads best served at room temperature, and show-stopping cakes and special desserts.
About the Author
Adeena Sussman is the author of “Sababa: Fresh, Sunny Flavors from My Israeli Kitchen,” which was named a Best Fall 2019 Cookbook by The New York Times, Bon Appetit, and Food & Wine. “Shabbat” is her follow-up to “Sababa,” a very personal take on the foods of Shabbat. Sussman is also the co-author of 14 cookbooks, most recently, “Gazoz: The Art of Making Magical, Sparking, Seasonal Drinks,” and her three collaborations with Chrissy Teigen — “Cravings,” “Cravings: Hungry for More,” and “Cravings: All Together”— all New York Times bestsellers. In December 2018, she made aliyah (became a citizen of Israel), and cooks and writes from her home in the shadow of Tel Aviv’s Carmel Market with her husband. Sussman is also a longtime food writer for Hadassah Magazine.
