Virtual SJCC: All-Island Book Club on Race and Allyship
July 7 @ 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm
The SJCC, along with five other organizations on Mercer Island, is hosting a book club in July focused on race and allyship. Open to anyone, we will read the book “So You Want to Talk About Race” by Ijeoma Oluo. Each organization will host separate book clubs on this book and together we will create a common language and understanding within the community.
The SJCC’s Book Club will meet via Zoom on Tuesday evenings in July from 7 to 8:15 pm to talk about the book, our experiences, and how race impacts our and others day-to-day lives. If you miss a Tuesday, don’t worry. You are welcome to jump into one of the other book clubs! More information will be delivered once you register.
There is no cost to join and we encourage you to include friends and family in this club. You may make donations of $18 or $36 to the SJCC.
Get the book through our partner, Island Books.
Meeting schedule: July 7, July 14, July 21, July 28 | 7:00 to 8:15 pm
Register to participate in Zoom conversation. Please register by July 6.
