Spend the Summer in Specialty Camps!

Bubbe's Baking

Grades 5-8

Bourekas, kugel, and challah 0h my! Come explore traditional Jewish cooking classics, which have been passed down for centuries. The best traditions and holidays revolve around food for a reason, right? You can even bring in your own family recipes to try out and share with your fellow SJCC chefs. L’chaim!

Costume Styling and Design

Grades 2-4

Partnering with the Performing Arts Camp we will build magnificent costumes for the J’s young actors. Based on the storyline and characters of their play, we’ll sketch costume designs and then outfit performers. Campers will create behind-the-scenes magic that will be showcased on stage.

Beginner's Fishing

Grades 5-8

Have you ever angled a Zander? Have no idea what that means? Come and learn the A to Zs of fishing with SJCC Summer Camp as we tackle pier and boat fishing on rivers, lakes and bays. We’ll learn safe fishing techniques, catch and release procedures, and how to cook a wild fish. There’s nothing fishy about this camp…except what’s on the end of your line!

Improv

Grades 5-8

Are you ready to become a comedy star? Come enjoy the magic of live performance, quick thinking, and lots of laughs with our new Improv Camp! In this week long intensive, campers will try their hand at short-form theater games (as seen on The CW’s “Who’s Line Is It Anyway?”) and longer scenes, exploring character work and relationships, all while creating everything right on the spot. If you’re ready to be a theater star or a budding comedian, come play games and perform improv shows with us at Improv Camp!  Acquire skills that will translate into all aspects of life, for many years to come.

Junior Photography

Grades 2-4

An introduction to photography for kids with a curious eye. We’ll learn aspects of taking pictures including framing, lighting, and composition. We’ll take field trips around Mercer Island to visually stunning locations. Please remember kids must provide their own digital camera or ready-to-load film camera every day. We also encourage kids to carry their cameras with them after camp so they can continue photographing. This will also give them more material to use when we start printing.

SJCC Fashion Week

July 17-21
Grades 5-8

Let’s put on a fashion show! Each camper will create a look from upcycled pieces, and together as a fashion team we will plan and execute a runway show. After creating a theme for our fashion line we will take a field trip to shop vintage, and re-style garments and accessories into a brand new look. Campers will act as wardrobe stylists for one another, makeup and hair artists, and backstage managers. At the end of the week we will host a full fashion show!
