Popcorn & PJs Community Movie Night: AN AMERICAN TAIL

Put on your pjs and escape from the sun with a screening of “An American TAIL.” Perfect for families with kiddos ages 5-13. Kosher snacks provided. Space is limited, please RSVP.

Meet us at the Herzl waterfront (across the street from the J) to spend an evening on the water! We’ll get out the J’s kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards and enjoy some sunshine, get exercise, and meet new friends. Each trip is two hours. There will be a lifeguard on duty.

Do you like to hike, but don’t get a chance to do it as often as you’d like? Come hike with the J! We will meet in the SJCC parking lot, carpool to the trailhead, and head out on a hike. Enjoy the outdoors, get some exercise, and meet new friends! On each hike, participants will decide where to grab a well-deserved treat on the way home!
All hikes listed below are within 1.5 hours of Seattle proper. Departure and return times will vary based on proximity and length of the hike itself. Generally all trips will leave the J parking lot between 8-9 am the day the hike is listed.
- Each hike can accommodate a group of 10 participants maximum. First come, first served basis.
- Please bring your own lunch, good hiking shoes, and plenty of water.
- All hikes suitable for participants ages 13+
- Please be sure to consider the length, elevation gain, and difficulty when choosing your hike

Dinner at Our House

Do you like to cook? How about helping those in need? We’re partnering with YouthCare, an organization working to fight homelessness among Seattle teens, to cook dinner for 20 in the SJCC kitchen. Dinner will then be delivered to YouthCare’s Jackson Street facility to be served that evening. Please join us for a couple hours to help battle food insecurity among homeless teens!

Shabbat Unplugged: Blueberry Picking

Shabbat Unplugged: Havdalah and Kayak Tour

Shilshole Bay Marina, W Dock, 7001 Seaview Ave NW
Enjoy the rich ecosystem of the Puget Sound on this two-hour kayak tour featuring a short Havdalah service. This is a great chance to sea seals, sea lions, great herons, and more. The route of the tour will vary based on recent sightings of local wildlife. Whether you want to drift among the bull kelp or paddle hard along the shore, this tour is for you.
What to bring:
- Warm clothes, preferably non-cotton (fleece, capilene, nylon, and wool are all good options)
- Water-appropriate shoes (sandals that strap to your feet or water shoes)
- Water-proof, wind-proof layer (i.e. rain jacket)
- Water bottle
- Sunscreen and hat
- If you want to bring electronics, make sure to carry them in a water-tight container

Tu B'Av Garden Tea Party

Bring your loved ones to a garden tea party to celebrate the Jewish day of love, Tu B’Av. Enjoy tea, sandwiches, and dessert in the Kesher Community Garden. Bring your own tea cup and saucer – and, of course, your finest garden hat!
A program just for dads and their kindergarten through third graders. J Explorers play games, learn new skills, enjoy the great outdoors, and celebrate Jewish values with other dads and kids. Must be a J Explorers member to participate in events.
