Community Service @ the J
One of our core values at the J, is K’lal Yisrael (peoplehood). The Talmud teaches us that we are “all responsible for one another.” Decades of research has proven that the more you give, the more joy you feel. To that end, we are committed to empowering our community to better the lives of others, and directly serve some of our neediest individuals. Our new Service Initiative offers opportunities for families and individuals to engage in community service projects. Through these meaningful experiences, we will make an impact, help our community connect with new and old friends, and bring more joy to everyone’s lives!
Dinner at Our House
March 19, May 21
Do you like to cook? How about helping those in need? We’re partnering with YouthCare, an organization working to fight homelessness among Seattle teens, to cook dinner for 20 in the SJCC kitchen. Dinner will then be delivered to YouthCare’s Jackson Street facility to be served that evening. Please join us for a couple hours to help battle food insecurity among homeless teens!
If you’re interested in participating, please email SJCC Community Connections Professional Ken Di Raimondo or call 206-388-0839.
Adopt a Lone Soldier
Adopt a local Seattlite currently serving in the Israeli Defense Forces. Our community will share responsibility for our adopted soldiers, with families signing up for a month at a time to send letters, emails, or care packages.
If you’re interested in adopting a solider, please contact SJCC Senior Director of Community Connections Dana Weiner or call 206-388-1994.
