Kids and Teens

The SJCC opens its doors to kids and teens in the most joyful ways. Before school, after school, when school's out, on the weekend - it's a great time to be a kid at the J.

Our Kidstown is a place just for kids, starting at 7:30 a.m. every school day until kids jump on their school bus and then again when their bus drops them back off at the J in the afternoon. Kidstown kids are busy, from homework help and tutoring and outdoor active time to enrichment classes and Friday Shabbat celebrations.

When school's out, kids come to the J for a day or a week of games and field trips to places like Pacific Science Center, Castle Ice Rink and more.

When school's out for the summer, our outrageously fun summer camp brings hundreds of kids and teens to the J.

Our Dinky Dunkers kids basketball league and kids indoor soccer league fill our gym with the hard-pounding sound of running feet and with lessons on teamwork and sportsmanship. Children develop confidence and coordination. Teenagers are encouraged to join our JCC Maccabi GamesTM team, which travels to a so-called "Jewish teenage Olympics" each summer.

Throughout all our kids and teen programs runs a deeply rooted commitment to Jewish values such as helping others (tzedakah), welcoming everyone (hachnasat orchom) and respecting others. All children are welcome at the J.

Our Mission
The mission of the SJCC Youth and Recreation Department is to provide a safe and stimulating environment for children in which they develop social and leadership skills through group interaction, age appropriate activities, and physical and emotional enrichment. Children will gain new skills and abilities by working with qualified staff members in a wide variety of camp programs, afterschool enrichment and sports skills and instruction.
