Group Fitness at the J

All basic group fitness classes will be FREE to SJCC Members. Non-Members will be welcome to attend classes at $15 per class or purchase an unlimited monthly pass for $55 per month. There is no need to register for fitness classes unless specified.

Fitness classes are 60 minutes and yoga classes are 75 minutes long unless otherwise noted. Classes include time for warm-up and cool-down. Please be on time to all classes so you can be properly warmed up and do not interrupt other participants. Participation in classes using equipment is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.


 

Special Event: Yoga in the Sukkah
Sunday, September 26, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Cost: $10 per person, $5 with food donation to the Jewish Family Service Food Bank

Join us in an all level yoga practice in the SJCC sukkah. During this holiday we celebrate the goodness and bounty of the earth. In this class, we will express our joy with a blend of yoga and Judaism. Holiday insights from Rabbi Daniel Weiner from Temple De Hirsh and an inspirational practice led by Drew Sowa of Urban Yoga Spa. Wear comfortable clothes, bring a yoga mat and water. Boot Camp
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 6 a.m.
This 60-minute workout will offer a fun and energetic atmosphere with high intensity intervals. Participants work at their own pace with modifiable exercises that challenge your cardiovascular system and muscle strength.

 

Aerobic Fitness
Mondays 8:15-9:30 a.m.
Old school aerobic steps combined with toning exercises. All levels.

 

Aquatic Sport
Mondays 9:00 a.m. 
An intermediate to advanced water aerobics class for more conditioned participants. A heart-pumping workout in the pool that works all parts of your body with no added impact to your joints. Intermediate to advanced.

 

Hatha Yoga
Mondays 9:45-11 a.m.
Learn and perfect poses to build flexibility, strength, balance, breath awareness and focus. Please bring your own mat for health reasons.
 All levels.

 

Optimal Performance Training
Mondays, 10 a.m.
Small group training with multi-discipline focus including weight equipment, bands and balls to enhance core fitness. Registration is only accepted by contacting SJCC Personal Training Supervisor JD Green at JDGreen@sjcc.org.

Cardio Blast
Mondays, 9:45-10:45 a.m.

It's the next level of training. Your muscular strength and endurance will be tested when combined with cardiovascular movement. A total body workout that is challenging, great for all levels of fitness.


Zumba®
Mondays, 6:30 p.m. - begins September 13
Fridays, 9:45 a.m.
Zumba® fuses hypnotic musical rhythms and tantalizing moves to create a dynamic workout system designes to be FUN and easy to do! The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms are resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you've got Zumba®! Zumba® is more like a "fitness-party" and makes fitness fun. Appropriate for ALL fitness levels and is easy to follow for those who have coordination and those who don't! Come try your first class for FREE! 

Indoor Cycling
Tuesdays/Thursdays 6 a.m.
Sundays 9 a.m.
 
Cycling is a great way to burn calories and have fun. You do not need to be an experienced cyclist; all levels are welcome. Riders use heart rate monitors to determine zones in this interval ride. New riders, please arrive ten minutes before class to be set up on bikes. All levels.

Total Body Conditioning (TBC)/Functional Fitness
Tuesdays/Thursdays/Fridays 8:30 a.m. 
Functional movements and correct body alignment are used to tone and strengthen the body. All levels.

Group Training
Tuesdays 9:45 a.m.
   
Muscle strengthening with no choreography or complicated moves. Circuit between different muscles for a whole body workout. All levels.

Boot Camp with Coach Eric
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30-7 p.m. Begins on September 7
Strength training, cardio and flexibility all in ONE!

Pilates
Tuesdays, 5:30 p.m. 
Sundays, 9 a.m.
This basic level mat session is designed to lengthen and strengthen your entire body using core muscles. Based on the teachings of Joseph Pilates, these movements will help you gain postural alignment, balance and flexibility. All levels.

Prenatal Yoga - Begins September 7
Tuesdays, 7 p.m.
Pre-registration required for ongoing eight-week session Expectant mothers in any trimester are encouraged to join! Prenatal Yoga nurtures you and your baby during the physical and mental journey of pregnancy. Prenatal Yoga helps prepare your body for labor, provides relief from pregnancy-related changes, connects you with other mothers-to-be, supports you in focused breathing, and helps build confidence and stamina for your transition to motherhood, Doctor permission required before attending. Please wear comfortable clothing and eat lightly one hour before. PiYo™
Wednesdays/Fridays 8:15 a.m.
PiYoTM is a class that combines yoga poses with pilates mat exercises to build core strength and enhance agility and balance. PiYoTM is a faster paced class than gentle yoga and provides a moderately challenging workout similar to Vinyasa (flow-style) yoga. Intermediate to Advanced.

Cardio and More
Wednesdays 8:30 a.m.
Cardiovascular fitness with simple coreoagraphy combined with toning exercises. All levels.

Step and Strength
Wednesdays 9:45 a.m.
Sundays 10:15 a.m.
 
Strength and toning techniques are combined with cardiovascular exercise to tone and shape your body. Intermediate to advanced.

Vinyasa Yoga
Wednsedays Noon (heated yoga for strength) - begins September 22
Wednesdays 6:30 p.m. (yoga for every body) - begins September 15
Fridays 9:45 a.m.
- begins October 8
full mind-body workout that utilizes core yoga postures to increase strength, balance and flexibility. Bring your own mat. Classes open to all levels.

All Sports Conditioning
Thursdays 9:45 a.m.
Intense body conditioning using basic weightlifting techniques. Intermediate to advanced.

Shaolin White Dragon Kung Fu Pai Lum Chuan Po
This is the authentic family style of the late Grand Master Daniel K. Dai. The emphasis is on hard training with strong body balance. We concentrate on making the student strong enough so he/she is able to break through anything with his body first, and then his fist. Stance training is first, then postures, and finally technique. There are no shortcuts. We build the warrior from the ground up. Inner strength training begins at the very first class, teaching the importance of a strong mental discipline through the practice of respect for others, good manners, good conduct and leadership skills.
